weiss-obit-popupGeorge David Weiss, compositore, autore ed arrangiatore si è spento all'età di 89 anni, lunedì 23 agosto us ad Oldwick, nel New Jersey. Nato a Manhattan il 9 aprile 1921, suonava indifferentemente il violino, il pianoforte, il sax ed il clarinetto. Firmò brani celebri come "Can't Help Falling in Love", "What a Wonderful World", moods memorabili portati al successo da Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong,  Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr., Nat King Cole, Tom Jones ed anche Janis Joplin ("Stay With Me"). Trasformò la canzone "Wimoweh"  di Solomon Linda nella famosissima "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", resa poi celebre dai Tokens.
